4th Webinar on the Acceleration of the Development, Production & Deployment of SAF/LCAF in Africa; online; 13 March 2025, 10h00 (CET) / 09h00 (UTC)

On 13 March 2025 at 10h00 - 12h00 (CET) / 09h00 - 11h00 UTC, EASA in close collaboration with the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) organised a joint webinar on the Acceleration of the Development, Production & Deployment of SAF/LCAF in Africa. The webinar was being held in the framework of an EU-funded project that aims to strengthen the collaboration with AFCAC related to the SAATM implementation.

The webinar was the 4th in a series developed specifically for the African stakeholders. The topic of this webinar was dedicated to “Building a viable business case for investability of SAF projects”.

EASA was represented by International Cooperation Department colleagues, Mr Ralph Kossman and Ms Ilze Gabrane, and AFCAC by its environment expert Mr Frankline Omondi. Speakers included experts from CBR Sustainability Partners and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

The webinar generated a lively question and answer session concentrating on the following main points:
- Sensibilisation of policy makers and main stakeholders
- Feasibility studies
- Risk premiums and measures to de-risk investment
- Long-term profitability assessment
- Policy framework requirements for acceleration of SAF production and deployment
