Expertise activity - African Program on Aviation Data (APAD)

A long-term expert with extensive experience in data analysis and statistics, in alignment with the African Program on Aviation Data (APAD), has been recruited by the project for 220 working days.

The expert is currently engaged in the implementation of APAD-related initiatives under the direction of the AFCAC.

The expert is tasked with the following duties, which are contingent upon the level of implementation, guidance, and necessity determined by the AFCAC:

• Market monitoring and evaluation through integration of data for economic analysis: better competitiveness of the airline industry in Africa and fuel economic research on sector analyses.
• Increased coverage and quality of data: African Aviation data collected, analysed and published by AFCAC.
• Support for APAD Capacity building Workshops.
• Increased interoperability that reduces administrative burdens through the creation of a functional database.
• Improved data driven decision and policy making in Aviation sector. Contribution to deepening regional integration and strengthening the institutional and regulatory framework for the liberalization of air transport.

Furthermore, in order to develop the AFCAC aviation data network, the project facilitated access to IATA taxes and charges for Africa database for a period of one year. The raw data is currently being utilised by the AFCAC data analyst and the Taxes & Charges team of experts.
